The Concept

Desert Vinyl Records (the retail shop in Tucson, AZ) was formed in 2021. As a logical continuation, owners Robert Lambert and Kelly Collins started an independent record label, Desert Vinyl Records.

The focus on our album releases is personal. It’s real.
Music from the U.S. and the U.K. Inspiration comes from the desert for both us and the label. Of course we are very interested in high audio fidelity, consequently use the highly regarded professionals – mastering, vinyl mastering, streaming mastering, and of course the printers and the pressing plant.

Robert opened his first record store in the fall of 1989. Previous to that he worked in record and book stores while attending (or at least registered :) Retail, music publishing, small label releases fell in line with a guy who was looking. After a series of record shops in California, Robert “retired” and moved back to Tucson, where he did actually get a degree in case you were wondering :) A couple of record shops in town ensued and the company morphed into this Indie label.

The premier release “Something Sarah” by incredible vocalist Sarah Tolar was a fortuitous begining. Avenues opened up and here we are!

We released a series of imports licensed from Blue Matter Records, in the U.K., and a collection by John Trubee followed. Then the album Robert heard in his head came into being. if not now by Mother of Exiles.

Listen and feel our sound.

We’re here!
